Just put $2,000 into it last week (front brakes, electrical issue with the rear lights again, side sliding door fell off and tires) and now the cold has stuck the rear brakes. I’ll be playing the rental roulette here in a moment Hertz is on their way to pick me up.

Heaven is where the police are British, the lovers French, the mechanics German, the chefs Italian, and it is all organized by the Swiss.

I start my new job next week. Guess what I’ll be driving?

So ok... I’ll be the one to ask. Is that structure... leaning? Or do I need more coffee? Or both?

If it were mine I’d be under there in 2 sec. It’s a fleet so I don’t actually own it. Tried banging on it and some other tricks. Just getting a rental and making them deal with it. Sometimes a quick fix gets you stranded later on when you do as many miles as me. Dont want to end up in the boonies getting it flat bedded home for the 4th time in its life.

If mine wasn’t fully set up with the Adrian Steel I would have disowned this thing long ago. The only reason I really like it is the compartments and roof hight make it so nice to work out of. If it were empty box truck style I would have moved on. Hopefully yours is newer and some of the kinks have been worked out but I’m guessing not.

Not exactly. Quoting Car & Driver:
“Anyone who has driven in Europe likely knows of the Fiat Ducato, the ubiquitous utility van that can be found on most any city street on the Continent. Now in its third generation, more than 4.5 million Ducatos have been sold worldwide. In the latest example of Sergio Marchionne’s march to overlay Fiat and Chrysler, the van has been used as the base for a line of Mexican-built utility vehicles that Ram will sell under the ProMaster label in the U.S. Those Ram-branded vans make their debut at the 2013 Chicago auto show.”
The European version are very common here. They are fairly reliable.

It’ll be brand new. They aren’t being delivered until the end of the month. I liked the one we rented, but reading all your horror stories gives me some pause.

That’s too bad, your driveway was in otherwise excellent condition.

Frozen parking brake? Assuming it is a mechanical parking brake, they usually freeze when moisture gets inside the cable at some point.

Not covered by warranty.

Yes definitely a cable but the cable felt slack. I think it’s the actual pivot mechanism on the brake but just a guess.

Actually, the ProMasters are built in Mexico.

Now I get to use my pressure washer for something! Love taking it back to brand new one pressure washer wand wave at a time.

The Americans get entirely different drive trains with slushboxes and large displacement gasoline engines, all from Chrysler. I bet they changed a lot of other things for the US market as well. Plus there is that different factory they use.

Yeah, the driveline could be completely different. Maybe they messed up the brakes somehow too?
